Why quality of stay is not a soft issue

 Technology has an impact. Always.

A medical supply unit shapes the patient room visually, functionally, and atmospherically. It is not just a carrier of connections, but an integral part of the space. That’s why quality of stay is not a decorative add-on, but a functional component. 
A clearly structured unit reduces visual clutter. It organizes connections logically, avoids technical overload, and improves orientation. This matters for patients—but just as much for staff. Every unnecessary movement, every poorly placed interface costs time and energy. Over years, this adds up. 

Ergonomics, therefore, is not a matter of comfort, but a factor of efficiency. A well-designed layout supports workflows. It reduces errors and physical strain. This has a direct impact on quality and cost-effectiveness. 
Sustainability is not a label either, but the result of making the right decisions. A supply unit is sustainable if it can be used over a long period, remains technically adaptable, and does not need to be replaced due to structural weaknesses. Longevity saves resources—provided the system is designed for it. 

Modern requirements do not change the fundamental principles. Technology must be reliable. It must be easy to repair. It must be clearly structured. The difference today is that the people in the room must also be considered—functionally, not emotionally. 
In the end, a supply unit is worth its cost when construction, hygiene, reparability, adaptability, and spatial impact are considered together. Not as buzzwords, but as technical consequences.
