Schyns Medizintechnik pledges a donation of over 65,000 euros

Light for well-being is a valuable resource for the hospice


“This is a truly valuable donation that will help us greatly,” said Dr. Martin Schencking, chairman of the Friends of the Rhein-Lahn Inpatient Hospice and the Rhein-Lahn Hospice Foundation. He was accompanied by Hanne Benz, hospice coordinator and future hospice director, and Heidi Wachter, nursing director, on a visit to Schyns Medizintechnik in Bad Ems.
 
The family-run company, which employs 60 people, is donating a total of nine medical supply units to the Nassau Hospice. At the request of the hospice management, the medical supply units will be finished with a modern colored glass surface and installed behind the nursing beds. They will include, among other things, power and communication ports, a nurse call button, a storage shelf, and a speaker system. Design, a cozy atmosphere, and functionality are perfectly combined.
 
What makes these supply units special is the integrated biodynamic general lighting, which simulates the progression of daylight. The biologically active light is intended to contribute to well-being by increasing the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin and to promote sleep rhythms through increased secretion of the hormone melatonin. In addition, the lighting concept includes a reading lamp for the patient and an examination light for the physician.

Florian Schyns believes that the hospice in Nassau is more than just a valuable institution for the Rhein-Lahn district. When he read in the newspaper about the Nassau hospice and its need for donations, the decision to make a donation was quickly made within the company. “We also want to do good for the local community.” Above all, however, Schyns wants to help ensure that the guests at the hospice feel as comfortable as possible.
