Introducing the S170 Medical Lighting Unit


We are pleased to introduce the S170 medical lighting unit—a stylish homage to the proven Schyns S700 medical care unit. With its sophisticated design and elegant form, the S170 sets new standards in medical lighting and meets the highest demands for functionality and aesthetics.

A standout feature of the S170 is the strategically placed 6° angle on the top and bottom, which allows for easy identification of fixtures such as outlets and switches. This thoughtful design not only enhances user-friendliness but also significantly contributes to safety and efficiency in patient care. Nursing staff and patients alike benefit from the intuitive operation and optimal light distribution.

The S170 is ideal for applications in the field of Human Centric Lighting. It provides comfortable and targeted lighting that can support the well-being of patients and healthcare staff. The option to flexibly configure the LEDs (HCL and fixed white) ensures uniform and comfortable light distribution that adapts to the specific requirements of the room.

With a high Color Rendering Index (CRI) of over 90, the S170 ensures precise color recognition, which is crucial for visual diagnoses and treatments in medical settings. Additionally, the Milialux version of the luminaire meets the requirements of the DIN EN 12464 standard by providing an illuminance of 1000 lux on the examination surface during more complex examinations. Another important aspect is compliance with the Cyanosis Observation Index (COI), which ensures that visual diagnostics are optimally supported. This is particularly relevant in the assessment of skin changes and the detection of cyanosis, which is of great importance for patient care.

The front of the S170 can be finished with high-quality HPL or other materials that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also ensure high durability and ease of maintenance. Combined with various anodized finishes, the luminaire takes on a distinctive character that blends harmoniously into any room design.

A practical feature is the integrated, adjustable, and glare-free reading light, which is particularly generously sized at 900 mm wide. This feature meets the needs of both patients and nursing staff by creating a comfortable and functional lighting environment.
