How would you describe the importance of medical care units for patient care in your care facility?
The medical supply units are a wonderful enhancement to our hospice rooms. With their beautiful finishes and open shelving, they immediately catch the eye as attractive pieces of furniture.
The various lighting options, along with the numerous outlets and technical details, also add significant value in terms of usability, ensuring that both our hospice guests and our staff have the best possible conditions for their use.
How would you rate the design and ergonomics of the medical supply units used in your clinic?
The design is excellent. It was important to us to furnish the rooms in a way that ensures the necessary functionality for the best possible end-of-life care, while still prioritizing comfort and a sense of well-being.
We particularly like the open shelving, as this makes the care unit a design element in its own right that can be personalized by our hospice guests with pictures and decorative items.
When designing the medical supply units, we had a wide range of options for the finishes. Mr. Schyns provided excellent advice and support during the difficult selection process.
In terms of ergonomics, we particularly appreciate the ability to hang poles, IV stands, etc., so that they are never in the way and are securely fastened at the same time.
This is especially helpful when we have multiple infusion pumps in use simultaneously due to a high symptom burden. Under such circumstances, a room usually quickly takes on the feel of an intensive care unit.
Thanks to the medical supply units, our rooms remain comfortable. Cables disappear almost imperceptibly into the side panel instead of lying on the floor, while the devices remain easily accessible.
Which additional features or functions of the medical supply units do you find particularly useful?
Since quality of life is our guiding principle here at the hospice right up until the last breath, we particularly appreciate that the clever design allows functionality to take a back seat visually.
This enhances the well-being of our hospice guests, who have often spent a great deal of time in hospitals and can finally spend their final days with us in an environment where their illness is no longer so obviously the focus.
How important is lighting, in conjunction with medical supply units, for patient care and well-being?
It’s wonderful to be able to create different lighting scenarios with the medical supply units. For example, when wound care is necessary, we appreciate the high functionality, whereas in everyday life, ambient lighting is more in demand.
Have you received feedback from patients and staff regarding the medical supply units?
First and foremost, the medical supply units are perceived as attractive bed panels. The beautiful surfaces and the ability to personalize the room through the open shelving are the most frequently praised features.
Staff particularly appreciate the numerous power outlets, the ability to use the green light at night without waking patients, and the option to attach IVs and infusion pumps to the bed rails directly on the medical supply unit.
